Good evening lovely people! I hope you have all been healthy and well and enjoying the seasonal transitions wherever you are in this large, large world. Autumn and Winter are my favourite seasons so I am beyond delighted for the cooler days to have finally kicked in- my vegetable garden also appreciates it! I am here tonight to let you know of this simple recipe for a healthy and delicious plum compote.
I must admit that when it comes to baking, savoury isn’t really my go-to. I guess it is because I prefer the sweet satisfaction of creating something from scratch as it reminds me of my childhood baking with my grandmother. This sweet potato savoury loaf is a delicious, nourishing and satisfying option for breakfast with avocado or peanut butter.
Once again, I wasn’t really going to be posting this recipe on the blog as it is so ridiculously easy however many individuals have enquired for it anyway. So here it is… although I feel like I should change my blog name to include the words “lentil obsession” in the domain. Just a note, if you have an over-eager husband who is currently going through a hot sauce phase; do NOT allow him near this dish. My beautiful hot-sauce crazed husband added half a bottle of habanero hot sauce in the dish when he was “helping out”. Yeah, my head only just slowly glued itself together a few days later…
Happy Sunday folks!
I have been making my own citrus all-purpose spray for a while and absolutely recommend it. This homemade all purpose spray is no-waste, economical and toxic-free. After all, many store-bought home cleaners (which often state they are “natural” are loaded with chemicals which in some way or form ends up being breathed into the body or absorbed! This homemade spray utilises the skin of the citrus fruit that I consume on a daily basis, meaning that I do not have to throw them away. I have been blessed to receive unlimited organic, homegrown lemons and limes from my parents as well as parent-in-laws this season for which I am grateful.
As Autumn is well and truly here with the crisp mornings and evenings, gone are the raw salads and in comes the warm nourish bowls. The key to the perfect nourish bowl is incorporating a balance of complex carbohydrates, a protein source, a healthy source of fat and an abundance of [organic] vegetables. I also top mine with fermented vegetables such as kimchi or sauerkraut however I also love a good drizzle of fermented hot sauce.
